Sonik SK4

Took mine (the 14ft 5-7 model) down to Blyth Pier yesterday late afternoon / evening - having been a bit under the weather for a few days it'd been languishing in the corner long enough! In pretty foul conditions managed to get a few whitings up to about a pound, and one solitary codling about 2lbs. Reading the catch reports it looks like I should have headed down the other end of the beach - it did look good but I couldn't be bothered to go home for my waders!

As for the rod, it's an absolute belter! Love it - seeing small bites in all that wind was no problem & it punched a couple of baits straight into it no problem.

Packed in around 10 as bites had dried up around 9, and had at least managed to get a few fish to "break-in" the new rod. Deffo give Sonik 10 out of 10 for this one. :D:D

One thing I'm not entirely clear on is what the difference is between the SK3 and SK4 rods. Is it just a hardware upgrade on the fittings or are they completely different blanks too?

They're different blanks too. Had a good look at both of the 14 footers and opted for the SK4 - its beefier than the SK3 & has the Fuji rings. :)

Why should the actual discussion about a new product be "banned"?

What is tedious is the unfounded rumour-mongering based on the "me mate saw a fella who knows a lad" stories...now that is boring and predictable

thats what this thread has become, got nothing against discussing a product and some of the points brought up may well be taken on board by the manufacturers, some already have from users of the rods. Oh The Great Wallsendo if you notice i said "rumours"

ok i have had an idea, later on when im back from the gym i will but a for sale add on here and try and flog some of my old gear. If i get enough money i will buy a sonik. I will then post regular updates as to how it performs.

I have no connection at all to the comapny, in fact i have only ever seen one of the rods in the flesh ever!!!!

So i am going to put my money where my mouth is to see if the rumours are true or not!

well i got one to day took it down the tyne for a few casts
it seems very good so far , casts quite far with- out having to really hammer it ,so hope to get with it tomorrow
i am happy with it :D

I started this thread to let you all know about the SK4
and NOT to start a bitching match so can all this be
stoped now please.
I get sick of all the bad press on new stuff when people
have not even seen them or had a go of the new stuff.

Oh and if it's rod snapping you want just go on
YouTube - Danny crack the rod
YouTube - rod snapped Century TT-B
