  • well the best crab is devon crab if you can get hold of it,used to go down to the teign and Dawlish once a month right up to December as long as there was no frosts.the best crab localy is the middins beach tyre traps.had most of my success on devon crab. davy.
Dave, years ago I got a lot of crab from the west coast, and I fished all the winter with them, I would say with average success. Last winter I kept tyne crab separate from West coast crab and really didn't see a great deal of diff. If the fish were there, I got them on both. Speaking with different lads they say they have found a diff, what's your thoughts. Thanks John Gilbo.
Hi Davy, they sound interesting - would love to see them if you can put them up. If not I could scan them and put them up for you. Don't know yet whether or not I'll be down on friday but if not will try & get to next one
glad to hear your ok,think our three lads who weighed in were on the bibles, had a family party so didn't fish, wasnt I lucky with that bad weather. davy.
Hi Davy, yeah nothing too bad - just went flat on my face in the shallows first cast at the Bibles, crushed left hand a bit as was holding rod to my chest mid-cast when I went over and three fingers currently swollen & bloody but nothing broken luckily. Managed another couple of chucks but by then hand was just about useless and had to pack in early, conditions just made matters worse!
nice to see you back, slowed down a bit now turned 70 ,still fishing all the matchs, thurs, sat, and sunday xmas fare this w/e. davy.
Thanks Davy - couldn't make it yesterday but yeah, I'll get them off you next match if that's ok - be interesting to have a look. Looks like it was a proper whiting-fest on the pier yesterday!
Hi dave, i am a member of the club but havnt been on the pier since earlier in the year, im heading out for few chucks tonight was just wondering if you have any advice on a few decent marks giving the sea conditions
Tynemouth b.o.t.a.c.,longbenton,smac,south meadowell, who have club matchs most week ends and odd days during the week, joining a club doesn't meen you can use pier any time only on match days and very strict rules must be observed as clubs have to pay a big insurance premium to be allowed to fish pier, come down to any of the pier matchs and you will be able to join then. davy.
Hi David, hope you can help? Ive been told the only way to get on tynemouth pier without climbing the fence is to join a club? if thats true, which club and how do i go about joining?

    Thanks
no big chucks on either marks you are fishing into large pond like holes 5o 6o yds is ok , slaty about the same or a bit futher if nothing 50 try a bit futher, the same applys to whitley beach. davy
