10lb + cod caught by me at horden tonight

I've just got back from a great session at horden, I've managed to take a cracking double figure fish. Details and pics tomorrow evening, when I'm back from work. I can't weigh it till i get my scales in the morning but i'm guessing around 12lb.

well done mate looking forward to seeing the pictures. somewhere i have never fished horden sounds canny always seems to be some decent fish coming from there.

This is my second double in 24 years of fishing. Well worth the wait since my last one, 9years. It feels just as good this time as it did last time.

My mate rang me up about 5 yesterday and asked if I fancied a couple of hours down Horden. I wasn't that bothered with the wind being quite strong but decided to go anyway. Got there about 2 hours into the ebb and had a couple of bites straight away. Eventually hooked into a good little flounder. I was sat on my box baiting up another rig when my mate shouted to look at my rod. I thought he was on about a good whitie rattle, but when I looked up my rod was on its way out of the stand. I jumped at the rod and struck straight away, I knew instantly it was a good fish. It thumped away for all it was worth, so much so I thought I had a good bass on. It started to pull to the left and ended up about 30yds left from where I was stood. About 20yds out I heard a huge splash but still couldn't see it. 10 yards out it surfaced and then I realised what I had on. It suddenly decided that being beached wasn't a good idea and turned back seawards, with one last thrash it tried to get back to deeper water sending water everywhere in the process. I finally got it on the beach, then my mate started with "fookin hell look at the size of it" I was still pumped with adrenaline and couldn't stop shaking. Needless to say it didn't take long for a huge grin to spread across my face
We stayed down till 2am, managing another cod of 1lb 2oz, and my mate took a rockling and small plaice.

Well my estimate on weight was a bit off I thought it was about 12lb but when weighed this morning it weighed 10lb 10oz 1dm, it will have weighed a bit more when first caught but it's still a double so I DONT CARE LOL

Caught on rag, lug and runny down.
