12 oz Moulds Cheats

a friend of mine has bought two moulds( Ron Tompson )and they both say "12 oz" but when there trimmed (taking the pouring bit off) there only 10 oz. The second was bought from a local tackle dealer. Are moulds allways like this ? :mad2:
could someone please let me know thanks in advance.

i have found this with ron thompson moulds they dont always make wot they say on the side.

I remember searching on ebay a while ago for moulds and a few of the sellers were warning of cheap fakes being auctioned under good brand names. Cant remember if Ron Thompson moulds were mentioned tho'

There's a couple of ebayers that sell counterfeit DCA Moulds.

i have had both copied dca's and real ron thompson moulds and found them both to crap. The only moulds worth buying now are the do-it ones from the US.

ron thompson are the worst moulds ever they warp really quickly and the worst offender for the fake dca on ebay is based in whitley bay

I`ve just received a ron thompson 12 oz mould and was shocked to find its a shell (double sided) casting , that is, its cast out on both sides leaving only a thin section of mould. This means a couple of things
1. As mentioned by Ray it`ll probably warp and
2. I cant modify it to add extra weight by machining it out cos I`ll just cut through the shell.

Norman the best moulds on the market by far are do it molds they do a excellent range suitable for boat fishing

If I didn't have my DCA's I think I'd just use two pieces of plate with drilled holes, quick to pour and they hit the bottom quickly.

i' ve not long put a bid in in for a 20 ounce pirk mould from a seller from whitley bay

ordered my 16oz pirk mould from ebay from the guy from whitley came today made about 15 of them,its spot on no complaints from me,allso got a ron tompson 12oz well suppose to be but its a 10oz made approx 400 leads with it with no bother and still its as good as the day i bought it

the real reason for not liking the mould is that it does not have slinky kate etched in it to mark your leads (for the man who has everything) LOL

Just surprised no one on here have caught any of your leads on the adastra, dirty wreck etc. They would just have to add a stamp to return to sender LOL
