fished lynemouth (again) tonight, sure im going to get a biggun from there this season, anyway, got there about 16.30, loads of lads fishing right next to each other which probably explains what happened, anyway first cast got a good knock but failed to connect then nowt for a couple of hours, then I got another good knock, grabbed the rod, BIG slack liner, reeling in, reeling in, trying to catch up with the fish, thinking to myself "canny cod here",reeling in reeling in anyway the line starts going to my right so im following it down the beach well I looked up and saw the lad that was next to me coming towards me reeling in aswell, so I thought "we've caught each others line here", next thing I know theres a canny flatty on the beach(35cm) it had took both of our hooks!(greedy bugger!) well the lad said he didn't like flattys so let me have it(cheers mate) other than that it was pretty crap fishing didn't see owt else getting caught but at least me and the lad next to me didn't blank!!! nice to see the lads from Billingham again.

a good question comes to mind.who would claim the fish in a competion, possibly spin of a coin.least yous never blanked.

Happened to me once on a charter boat in the US. My hook was in the lip of the fish, the other guys was deep down, so skipper said it was his fish. It ended up winning $20 third prize in the sweep too! I was not a happy camper.

Aye, a dilemma that would be....sorry to hijack a little here but I have to throw this little story in now

My uncle told me he was out on the boat once over and bloke next to him lost a canny cod bringing his trace up over the boat edge. The cod fell off his hook and straight onto my uncle's who was also bringing up his (empty) trace!
My uncle claimed the fish, which I personally thought is probably technically the correct thing to do. He said there was a long long argument over it and they let the skipper decide who said it was my uncle's fish.

aye its a funny un eh lads? if im honest the lads hook was deeper down and mine only lip hooked so if the lad had of wanted it he could of had it, think it would of been a different story if it was a big cod like haha!
