Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year Tony and all on NESA.
Team Wor Lass will be doing a little Research and Development and maybe even an early start or two in 2013.
Highlights of the season is not spending too much on diesel as the weather kept us from getting out as much as usual. The rest are really lowlights of just how rubbish all the fishing was, from the boat fishing, to the salmon fishing on the river and lure fishing in remote parts of Scotland. Next year can only get better.
We’re on the down-hill stretch now, coasting towards March and the start of the season when the sun shines and the fish bite.

i didn't recieve any xmas fishing gifts
only cos i've still got tons from last year..
however, i was shown a new secret bit of kit yesterday by ******
but its secret.....but looks effective

Not so glum now Mark, they have eyes (easier to find their way to the cod !)
had to make the mould Chris, did find a couple (and bought them) but they are pretty poor really.
Busy investigating best approach at the moment, have gone through quite a bit plaster of paris and silicone mould material but, they are getting better ..... have only got about 12 weeks or so left to perfect the best method and build a bit stock ... ....... meanwhile, Tone the apprentice is doing well .... he has his own hand carved master shad ready to make a mould then we'll see how it looks ...

Those flatties are great Norm , all the shads look A1, i like the glitter additive, did you scrape it off the Xmas cards
3 x 5" shads are £5.25 on Ebay, by buying the components, how much do you think you save :question:

Totally satisfying little project...the seeds were sewn a few weeks ago (Norman can tell that tale)
In the mean time, Like Norm says, I've been whittling away a solid blank...
Here's my efforts so far:
After building up layers of balsa I carved into the basic shape...at this point I nearly didn't go with a shad :red:
Then using coarse sand paper I kind of scraped it into shape
Looking a bit stocky at this stage I kept going...
I think I'm there or there abouts now with the shape – any more messing about and I'll be in danger of snapping the tail off!
Just need to fine sand it, carve some detail in and then lacquer up!
Gone “traditional” with this first attempt but have got materials to try something different next time
