had another canny day on jfk two today with davy taking another lovely ling over 20lbs

despite the fog never lifting all day.
but a even bigger problem came in the shape of a huge 8ft long porbeagle shark [estimate 400lbs] pinching two of the anglers plump cods on the way up. almost at the very top.
what a beautiful animal circled the boat a couple of times pinched those 2 fish then off
might have had something to do with a pod of white beaked dolphins showing up a few minutes after that.
had this happen before but a lot of years ago.
so THINK TWICE before you go for a plodge. wouldn't liked to have been in a kayak with that monster about.
the power he tore of the fish would have capsized a yak. food for thought

wreck fishing. reef fishing.north shields boat fishing. ne england. sight seeing. boat hire.

interesting day Allan and quite a good point you made especially if you are not expecting it. My sons mates in South Africa actually fish for shark from yaks, a lot do it from jet skis as well

Great Stuff Alan ..Its Porbeagle time once again Err wheres my heavy tackle again
Some nice lings showing up Alan ! could do with one of them in the final comp of the year next week ....nudge nudge wink wink ;)
any little pointers wont go a miss we only have 12lb to beat lol

As a kayak fisherman it is bit unnerving to say the least hearing our waters have such substantial preditors in them. How far out were you when you came across the shark?

I Trevor we were only about 6 miles off, and there's definitely more of them out there than we imagine. I am sure they pose no real threat.
but even a inquisitive one in a small kayak. would be unnerving
