Hard day as already mentioned with the weather and drift. Fishing out of Sunderland on a private boot, started close in around Souter picking up coalie and codling, tried a few wrecks but drift made it hard, still managed a few codling and whiting.

Total catch for myself 9 codling, 1 cod, 7 coalie and 2 herring best just under 7lb, all fish other than the herring and 1 codling returned.

Not 7lb herring, the best fish was 7lb not the herring lol that would be a new record i would think ...herring only about 8oz.

Other lad got 1 codling and 2 whiting, spent the 5hrs chucking up from the drink...he said anyway lol

Pirks on the wrecks for the codling and mackerel and squid on the rough ground with daylights and lead heads for the rest.....small daylights used for the mackerel but never caught any just ended up with herring. Chatter on the radio if it was right, think it was a charter saying hitting loads of mackerel 6miles off......been a bumpy trip back for them i bet if out 6miles with the wind building as the day went on.

Well, when the sea is like that a 16ft boat is hard work lol

Got a trip up Craster in a small comp on the 6th so hoping for a slower drift and better weather, was hoping to get out next weekend but everyone working so pier or marsden be the word.

I expected to sink as the lads boat has no name yet (only got it on thur) bad luck they say.

p.s mate rang me, caught 3 mackerel on Seaham pier last night at dusk (confirmed as he popped into mine with them to prove it)

aye its that time of year again when the piers will be full of macky and idiots lol we tried to get out today on the boat like had no joy stayed in the piers again with a total of 0 fish but we decided to go up river to a few local spots and check what the ground was like and how far we need to cast to hit holes lol so something good came of the day
