Does anyone have a 2lb lead mould that i could borrow or purchase? I am going skate fishing and my normal source of 2lb leads has dried up, i am only after 3x 2lb leads but getting hold of them is hard.

Think I've still got a bell shape mould that does 2lb, if not I've got a pirk mould that does 750g (1.65 lb) you could just use them as a sinker.

Or if it's only for 3 weights drill a hole the right size in two pieces of wood clamped together :)

Cheers Keith, the bell lead is about the best shape as i am using them in 500ft of water and they need to be sat on the bottom as part of a massive pully rig...using them for skate fishing, you dont often lose them and the 8 i had have done me 4 years but down to 4 now and i like to put 6 rods out so an extra 3x leads would do great :)

I've got a mould you can borrow. one of these fellas:

ironically, I had half a dozen 2lb weights and melted them down in the summer to make spinners as well.

I can take the mould into town and you can pick it up at the shop if you want

also got a huge pile of stainless wire for loop making as well

Cheers alds i see when i can get thigns sorted....Hate using 2lb leads but skate fishing needs them as even 2lb wont hold bottom for the full tide where we fish.

Cheers for that it will be put to sue straight away and cheers for all the replies lads...find it really hard to get any type of specialest gear for shark and skate around our way.

Thanks Jeff for the offer but i was very kindly given one and made a few already ready for next weekend, hope this weather improves now.

my grandad gave me 2 2lb leads that he used to make back in the day. he said they are quite easy to make without a mould. cut a piece of chrome pipe. crimp at one end and pour in the lead, then crimp the other end. drill a hole and put a ring in. sorted!

Yer Sound of Jura just down from Oban, we go every year once or twice....never get loads of fish but between 2 and 7 skate over 100lb per day has been the norm in past trips and then you get congar, thornbacks, dogfish, spurr's and the rare black mouth dogfish.
