me and soon to be new nesa member MAD ROB AKA CRABSTICK went to the ramp on the side of the rathouse 5.30 tonight had 1 cast each and decided to go else where hebburn whitburn hendon or shields pier ??????
ended up on the rathouse fishing the river instead of the bay ,,,wot a great decision it proved to be
we had 3 desent sized flounders plus 2 small coddies 6 to 8 oz each
then as the tide started to turn around 11.00 we started to get a few knocks looked like small whiting then...........
as mad rob bites into his sarney his rod has 2 good pull downs then the famous slack liner ......picks his rod up reels and strikes.. not much of a bend at first then as its getting nearer to the side rod starts bouncing all over, his headlight was falling off his napper i put mine into the water to get a look,his line was all over the place then his rod starts to get a great bend in it (pirahna beachcaster) then his penn 525 started to struggle a bit but eventually got it to the surface
as it got to the edge i hand balled it up the wall and over the railings hoping it didnt drop off,
a stunning pb for mad rob a cod of 5lb 4oz caught on a pennel rig full of lug
weighed straight after from 2 lads from durham
snow, sleat, hailstones and gail force winds but one of my best nights fishing and over the moon for my mate mad rob and his new pb cod
packed up at 3 in morning still talking about it , a cracking fish
