4.7lb mackerel???????

Looking at the picture it measures just around 20" on the tape - around 50cm. Would it go nearly 4 1/2lb? I very much doubt it - perhaps on a cheapo spring-balance set of scales (which can be hopelessly inaccurate). A very good mackerel nonetheless, but I seriously doubt the 4lb 7oz bit.

Gary :)

that doesnt look the same big mackerel that i saw that deff pushed towards 4lb ,,on a side note the pier was a disgrace i had a walk to the end tonight and saw ppl just catching them and leaving them flapping on the deck while visitors carefully tried to step over them and they looked disgusted with the blood n guts all over the shop ,what the hell ppl to the area must think of us i dread to think ,, i even said to the port of tyne guy your gonna need a bigger bag he said its ok ive got 3 , still dont think 3 woulda been enough ,,,wondering could they not put up a sign asking ppl not to leave the pier in such a state or warning them that pier will become non fishing if they continousely leave the pier in such a bloody mess ,,DISGUSTED

had one at 1.8lb the other day like was abit smaller than that al upload a pic themorra to compare

Was it 4 and half pound Mackerel or a 4 and half pound Mackem? There's loads of skinny chav's from Sunderland get on that pier in summer!

I know pics can be deceptive but that looks nowhere near the size claimed to me. Regarding the state of the pier if was awful already during the week when I was down. People gutting fish while they are still half alive and leaving piles of guts strewn around. One lad dispatching fish by ripping them from the hooks and throwing them on the ground at full force. Its amazing we don't get banned from the pier for me.

Haha, and they always have lager, even at 9am. :o I aint disputing the weight of the fish lads, I thought it hard to believe but then again look the Seaham mackerel, the lad seen it weighed but as you know scales can sometimes be deceiving. Still at 62cm its a cracker, Davey/Blanked Again pulled in 43cm one last year was a good 2lb.

He mentioned the state of the pier looking like a bloody war had happened, it wasn't like that earlier on, on maybe I was wearing blinkers. Had 1 fella walking around asking for some line, I'll buy it off ya, should thought of that before going fishing mate.

Its disgraceful the language on the end aswell sometimes, cnut this and that when there are couples and families walking by.
