42lb 7oz cod

Cracking fish for these waters.

But in my opinion from the video it dosen't look 42lb.
Quite easily lifted into the boat once it had stopped twisting, then held for a long time with one arm.
Personally i think the scales might be out.

I caught a 42lb cod earlier this year and thought it looked quite abit bigger than that one.

just my opinion though so don't go biting my head off;)

Nevertheless lovely fish from close in.

Nice fish, we used two sets of scales in shore, the angle of cam makes it look smaller look at our legs

granted it would be awkward lifting a fish of this size out of the water but 42lbs is only 3 stone, big for a fish but probably the same as the average toddler and who can be picked up by their mothers alone so it is very possible for 1 man to lift a fish of this size into a boat by himself in my opinion. on the other hand cracking fish.

im 64 not particularly fit and can pick 3 stone up one handed all day long, stick a bit of adrenalin in there and the skys the limit.

the old theory that the camera never lies is a load of hooley,if the camera can make small fish look large then;)

well done again:exclam:

A baby is not 4-1/2 foot long thou like Chris's 42lb cod and death rolling on the water :)

Anyway nice fish been very few double cod this year, i have only caught 6 on my boat this season and none in the 20s yet...big ling season thou...just have to find them :)

seriously flawed logic there with regards to length versus weight...have seen plenty big fat codling that barely make legal size when measured...similarly have also seen geet long Cod that you'd think was easy a big double only for it to scrape 9lb

but peeps obviously aren't as experienced great white hunters

taken from another forum.

"My 2 sons and i were off ourselves that day. No cod, but loads of mackerel and a few dabs for us. Just before we went home, these lads told us what they had caught and looking in their boat, sure enough there was one hell of a fish! But they told us it weighed 31.5lb."

Seems it gained 11lb. 31.5lb looks more realistic to me.
