5 day Forecast - Joke!

Why do they bother with 5 day forecasts? They change everyday! WTF is the point of that.......................... kind of defeats the purpose!!!

More to the point, why do I look at them??

Tuesday it gave Saturday as sunny most of the day with a bit of cloud later and a wind speed of 5mph, perfect for a shore session before the wind, rain and cold chases us fair weather fisher people to indoor winter pursuits! :)

Now today, forecast is for rain all day and wind speed of 18mph!!!

If they can't accurately forecast for a few days in advance, why publish it!?

So fed up.......................as you can probably tell! :(

They predict everything in the weather to cover there backsides its a nightmare they all tell diferent stories about weather

Best just look out ya window m8 cause them so called weather people always **** it it up

We are up at howick tomorrow all day should be lively

Overall they do a pretty good job, and what a job it is. The complexity of the modelling is huge but it can never match the complexity of the weather systems. Most of the time they get it about right for the 24~48hr term, longer term they are often close with the weather pattern if not the timing.
I still like to look at several weather websites including the synoptic charts before fishing especially afloat.

It's the timing that annoys me, they rarely seem to get that right.

I've spent years looking at weather forecasts every week; for years as a climber now for fishing as well, and its always a load of b0ll0cks. I think they should have to publicy apologise every time they get it wrong, you see them every single night on the tv, smugly telling us what the weather is going to be, they act as if they know it all, and that they're always right, they never mention the fact that they get it wrong every single night.

( if you want to wind me up, just mention weather forecasters!:))

I live on the west coast of Scotland mate, not the north east.

BBC - dreadful and they get it from the Met!

ive been watching the weather over there.

thursday night it said light northerly winds and clear skies for sunday :)

friday morning it had changed to stronger south winds and heavy rain

you just cant plan ahead

No you can't! Today it is cloudy with almost no wind, so where is the constant rain and 18mph winds forecast??

Monday is our day off and looks good for fishing, but hey it's only Saturday, could be snowing by Monday!!

So as far as the BBC and the Met Office are concerned it has been raining in Greenock all day and blowing a gale.......................................................................it hasn't!

Rained at 330pm and the wind got up with the rain........................... for a whole 10 mins!!

So in fact the weather was what they forecast on Tuesday and not what they were forecasting from Thursday onwards!

Thanks to them, I have been doing household chores all day, with Lynn, instead of fishing.:mad:

Kept telling her we should go and wet a line, but she wasn't having it, after agreeing to earlier in the week! So annoyed!!:mad:
