For whatever reason me and lolipop 69 decided to fish tonight! met up at amble and deciced to try sugar sands as it was low tide and it offers shelter from the big sea...and boy was it big!
Anyhoo we got there and cast in, 6oz breakaway held bottom no prob, however the tell tail drag of seaweed started and sure enough I had a fight on my hand trying to pull in half a kelp bed. Same with lol so decide to pack in and head back to amble harbour where we could do atleast some fishing off the wall.
got there for bang on low tide (9pm) lolipop cast into the middle and I just dropped it over the side hoping for some fish taking shelter from the storm, was'nt expecting to catch but lolipop thought he had a bite and reeled in the smallest whiting I had ever seen! While sniggering away my rod gave a big tug, then another, got meself all excited pulled in and............a disgusting eel! managed to get it off and put it back well away from my rod rebaited and cast out. Two minutes later rod started going daft with huge knocks, reeled in and you guessed it a bigger eel! this one however was determined to wrap up my line in knots and was a real struggle to get off, but off it came and put it back.
The wind really got up about 10 and with the tide coming in so did the weed battled on for a bit but it was to much so headed home to me warm bed.
I know the fish were no great shakes but we tried and it gives you summit too read while waiting for the sea to die off and for the weed to bugger off too!
