Well I got another chance to have a session so I picked up some cracking lug from nets again and headed for ryhope beach. First chuck, fish on and a canny fish struggled to get its head up, I fished into the only bit of beach with kelp that's easily reached at low tide. The fish made great use of its kelp jungle first up it managed to snag up the lead, so with some excited pressure I coaxed the lead to snap it's rotten bottom. It lunged again testing my first cast enthusiasm then I got it closer with a little pump and wind , my t rex gave a little moan as I got the bugger closer. It then dived again and become snagged, I tried all sorts, gave it line it didn't take it, I changed angles no difference then snap. The hook snood snapped in the middle so the fish must of wrapped it around a rock, gutted
. I had 8 casts in all I caught 3 codling, 1 at 4lb another nearly 4.5lb and a tiddler at 0.5lbish which still bothered the m427's tip. A canny night in all, and fish n chips defo tomorrow.
As a matter of interest the female Cod was full of roe but the male Cod was heavier and full of milt. I thought the female with roe would be heavier.
