As Fishytail from this forum has decided that washing his hair and cutting his fingernails are more important than fishing, I decided to go it alone and have my first trip out since the end of January. Armed with frozen peeler, a bass rod and 2 hook flapper I headed for St Peters Basin.
Things started really well and I had 2 small Codling (biggest 28cm) followed by 2 small Flounders (biggest 26cm) followed by 2 really small Whiting (biggest 23cm). It then went quiet for about an hour and then all hell broke loose, I had a cracking bite and was in the process of lifting a 1lb and a half Coalie over the railings when it dropped off. After re-baiting I cast back out and got another cracking bite which resulted in a 44cm Coalie being landed followed by another of 29cm. I then spent the next hour staring at a motionless rod so decided to wave the white flag.
A great day out and a red head to go with my red nose.
Thats all folks!
