Hi guys, back in sunny Whitley Bay after a stint over in our Drummore caravan. I know that a lot of you guys love fishing over there so here are a few recent shots I took on the MOG. Hope they bring back some happy memories for you all.

It's a lovely part of the world (just spent 9 nights in Garlieston...40 odd miles closer to England) but lummy it don't half take an age to get in and out of...3 hours today just to get to the M6 :o

Great pics as ever :)

Nice pics John, lovely days when I was there the other week unfortunately in bed for the sunrise and the pub for the sunset :D

Hope to be over with the kids in the holidays and may try and get some of those.

Aye its a canny hike. Its 180 miles from Whitley Bay to Drummore. It used to take us on average 3.5 hours to get there,Dumfries being the halfway mark. Now that I am retired I am never in a rush when going over and quite often we will skip the A69 in favour of the military road.

We never do the M6,much prefer the Brampton/Longtown/Gretna Green route and just as quick.

Love the pics..
Me and a couple mates have been Tope fishing over there with Burrett every summer for the past few years and are booked again for next month :)

Nice set up. I have the Nikon D80. Those Sigma lenses are great!

Yep just got the one lens, was advised by a top photo pro not to become a "tackle tart" !!!! It has served me well. Do a bit portrait work and the odd wedding for mates so do enhance/fiddle with photos in CS4,it has its uses.

Having said that I come from the "old school" and all of my other stuff are not enhanced one iota,I think its cheating !!!!! oh dear was that the lid off a can of worms :-)

Anyway photography is like fishing in many ways, loads of blanks but eventually it pays off !

This is still one of my favourite local sunrises that i managed to capture,it even made the BBC weather slot. Anyone know where I took it from ?

I could have made it really stunning in Photoshop but that is like stuffing lead into a fish for the weigh in LOL

I agree John. I only ever adjust exposure a bit in RAW files if its underexposed, and crop a pic. Apart from that I prefer trying to get a good scene without fiddling with it. Your analogy is a good one!

You were just down the road from me Tony (Kirkinner). Garlieston is a lovely spot, I often walk the doggies on the beach. There's some good marks on the other side of the bay too. Did you do any fishing?

I usually do Newcastle to Kirkinner in 3 hours without breaking any limits but it can take longer especially when you get stuck behind a convoy heading to or from Stranraer ferries.

Only had the light spinning rod with me so had a few chucks on the groyne a couple of nights - sprats being chased by something at dusk but nothing was interested in the small Toby I was chucking out

Spent a few hours at the more popular Isle Of Whithorn where I managed a small Pollack and later on 3 Mackerel (at once :o...took me 5 minutes to land 'em - great fun!!)

Back next year with the "proper gear" I think - will try Eggerness Point and also there has got to be some big flatties in Garlieston I'm convinced of it as it looks perfect for them...also gonna take the Fly Rod as the Campsite has its own pond :D

Hi Graham, back over to the caravan this Sunday for another stint in "Gods Country" Will be wedging in a few dusk/nightfall bass sessions if you fancy it :-)

John
