Thought I`d stick some pics up of fish this year, to help kick-start the new lure forum off. Nothing huge but great fun on light gear :)

Haven`t managed to get out a great deal this year, the Trout has to be my "best" fish of 2012, won`t forget that one in a hurry :)

Great pictures Piker, some lovely examples. You may not have been out much, but it looks like you have had some great fun.

Freshwater Lure Fishing is something I have never tried in real anger and its something I plan on trying more often, especially when the conditions are difficult on the shore.

Great first post, the bar has been set! :)

Thanks Si. It`s cracking sport on light gear :) If you (or any of the other lads for that matter) ever fancy a crack at freshwater luring any time just give me a shout...got plenty of lures/gear for freshwater luring I can lend out if need be. I`m stuck for transport at the minute so would be just glad to get out and chuck some lures around :)

Took the words right out of my mouth!

What can you expect this time of year?

Frostbite!! :D

Seriously though, once you get into Winter proper, the rivers are probably the best bet....stillwaters can be fickle for lure fishing at this time of year unless there`s a good mild spell. Usually get a few Pike on the rivers if theyre not in flood, as well as the chance of decent Perch and the odd Chub. River fish are a lot more opportunist than stillwater fish, which gives you a better chance with the lures...

What's the score with fishing rivers, I did a bit fly fishing as a bairn and remember you had to get permits and the like?

There`s the odd decent free stretch (which I won`t name on the open forum for obvious reasons), and most of the others are day ticket. Good thing about most river stretches is that the tickets are usually cheaper than on stillwaters. A fiver a day is probably average, with quite a few being cheaper. The North Yorkshire rivers offer the best chance of a few fish....as you come further North the coarse fish stocks get less and less, especially Pike.

Don't get me wrong, I dont mind buying a permit to fish. Anyway I'd love to try a bit of fresh water luring. Might be able to get out in December some time if your up for it

Not all of them mate. The 2 spinnerbait fish were on home made baits. I do use my own lures a lot of the time though...can`t afford to buy too many commercial ones :D

No worries Phil, I didn`t take your post in that way anyway. I work for myself from home so can get out pretty much anytime mate, a few days notice would be ample, just give me a shout :)

Nice one. Those Zeniths seem good catchers, might have to get a few for next Summer`s sea fishing sessions :D

yeah there my go to lure, unfortunately I tend to find it hard not to clip one on and I end up not using half the lures I have. Might have to leave them at home next year :-S
