With the poor weather predicted and the jogging fiasco coming up this weekend I thought a crafty half day off work was in order with the decent weather today.
I escaped from work at ten and by just after twelve I was at Shields pier only to find the gate shut. The sea looked ok so I clambered around and headed for the end with the tide ebbing.
I got to the end to find Stan (fishfingers) already fishing. Stan said that he had caught a few codling already so I thought it was going to be canny. As the afternoon went on we were pulling in fish steadily, a few codling, coalies, whiting and a dab.
I had two sized codling, one at 35cm and a better one at 39cm.

Not long before I left Grant turned up and then Stan pulled in a better size codling for tea. I left about seven looking forward to a few cold ones and a couple of drams, a canny day with fish and some good craic
