A nice morning on pier

As title says I had a nice morning spinning off the pier, with all the reports of mackerel still being about I thought I would try my luck again after blanking a week or so ago.

I arrived at 7.30am to an empty pier hopeful of some mackerel for the freezer, 10am-ish arrived and not a sniff, I was thinking another half hour and I'm going home. I was actually thinking the catch reports were some kind of wind ups lol, anyway along came another lad with his spinning set up (NESA member FishingMark, very nice to meet you mate) so I thought I'll stay on a bit longer see if he fairs any better.

Again nothing until the tide turned, not much by the way I think Mark caught 3 macky and I caught 2 macky and the smallest coalie I have ever seen, 6" about same size as the lure lol. I was kicking myself after I put the little fella back as I forgot to take a pic and add it in the lure challenge thread here.

These so called another half hour then I'm going home ideas lasted until 1.30pm when I finally gave up, my right arm feeling like I had been doing press ups all morning on it.

All in all a nice morning out playing with my rod in the sun and not blanking, can't beat that ey lol. :D

Thought you might have had a few more after I'd left with the other lad pulling in that treble just before. Great morning out and I've actually come back sunburnt! Not much cover on top any more, should have had the cap on as well as the sunglasses.

I was pretty surprised when those lads were pulling up shads even those fish still being here this time of year, fingers crossed this good weather means a nice cold winter for the cod.

Well done on catching mate. Strange feeling I think when you hit shields pier and it's completely empty.

areet m8 i was on the small wall with my daughter, i had 12 on the spinner ,excitment lasted all of 30 mins then nowt.so they are still there.

Oh was that your daughter lol, I said to Mark he's a brave man I wouldn't take my missus out fishing lol, leave her to get on with her bloody shopping and leave me in peace haha.

Typical that the 30 minutes happened after I left lol it's always the same with those fish, they feed twice a day before I get there and after I have gone. :D

Aye lads it was lovely weather to be out and yes a bit strange at the end of pier on your own, glad I didn't go for first light. :o

Had a few hours on the pier this afternoon, fished from 1.40pm-4.30pm. When I got there FishingMark was already on the end he had nowt from 1pm so didn't look good, but persisted on and I was rewarded with a good size macky.

While I was there I only seen 3 other macky come up, 1 to Mark and 1 to another lad on the end, I seen the 3rd come up as I was leaving.
