Well it's not often I venture into here apart from the odd well done but Keith and I actually managed to get a few hours fishing in tonight.
We started off at Crawley's, it's probably the only rock mark I can get onto now. We only had a couple of casts, to be honest I don't think it felt right at all, and neither of us were confident of pulling anything out. We headed to the Tyne, just beside the Ice house or should I say half Ice house as quite a bit has gone now. We had a few casts with nothing to show from the little bites we were getting and decided two more casts and we were off home out of the freezing cold. Keith started to reel in after a few bites and it was obviously a bit heavier, a Whiting saving him the blank. Mine was on it's way too and was a lot heavier than when it went in a very plump flatty saving me the blank and a Tesco carrier bag to put it in
. Very thoughtful of the sea gods I thought, but decided to let it grow a bit bigger for someone later. One fish each on the same cast, you couldn't make it up lol. One more cast each and the cold won, we decided that was it and started the cars while we got changed.
When we left it was showing -2 on my dashboard, as I got along the coast road it dropped to -3. Newcastle saw it drop to -4 and Gateshead -5. I was dreading what it would be when I got to Consett but it held steady at -5 until I got to Ebchester and it dropped to -6. Shotley Bridge back to -5 and into Blackhill where I live and up to -4 quite balmy for December in Blackhill lol.
Not a great nights fishing but really enjoyed as it was my first since last February and pulling a fish in was a nice bonus too. Hopefully out again next week but on a high water mark as there are a few of them that are a lot easier for me.
As soon as I got in tonight I had the kettle boiling while I washed my hands, for a nice coffee laced very liberally with Drambuie
chugged that down and made another even stronger one. Finished that and now just relaxing with a nice Whiskey and Coke, warm enough inside to be able to add several large chunks of ice lol. My legs are like two strips of warm Spanish (that's liquorice to all our younger members) but besides that I can't wait for next week, you have to love masochism.
