What year is the reel mate,if its a old(best model) it will have a anti-reverse
paul.
If its a newer model it will be fitted with a non-return bearing fitted in the drive end plate,most time these go wrong..ie handle spins backwards on retrieve.
If it the old model its a simple paul that rotates on the main gear shaft and stops the shaft going backwards.To get to the paul...........
Remove the handle and unscrew the star clutch and remove the oval washers,unscrew the two screws holding the end plate and remove.
Lift out the main gear train and below this will be the anti-reverse paul this paul rotates on the small fixed pin on the inner side plate and has a brass sprung plates that grips the main shaft.
Give's a shout if you get stuck and I'll try and help.

hi look on the parts diagram d.a put up is the part your having trouble with the one with the number i've mentioned if it is harry has explained how it goes back in.

lol im using a net book mate i cant make out the writing on diagram

its an old model 6500c is one of these the part im thinkinking its the part with the copper bits on???
