abu 6500 help

hi lads need some help i was fishing the other day when i was casting out i had a massive snap off but no birds nest but my 65 would not reel in stripped it down spindal is not bent but when turning its making a horrible noise and not winding in right any clues before i drop it of at doctor rutherfords?

Sounds like the pinion gear may be stripped. Not expensive to replace but it does mean opening the drive plate. if you aren't sure about doing this, take it to Andy. Did the gears engage while you were casting? It only takes a knock of the handle on those 6500s.

no mate i have the button notched and always take my star drag of thought the same just dont like taking the handle part to bits unless i have to and sounds like i have to lol

Not that much to it. Take photos with your phone at each stage. Schematics are easy to get online
