Advice needed

Alreet lads!

After a couple of year not fishing i decided to get myself some new gear and start up again. Had a shot up the pier on Friday night for mackerel but just seemed to get snagged up on the harbour side and blanked. A couple of mates are gunna go spinning 6.30 in the morning but i fancy putting a bait out but theres one problem... i have no bait and no shop open to buy some before i go.

Will i get anything from the fish counter at asda that will be worth using?

Yer bud squid, mussel, macky and my fav the frozen shelled king prawn £5 a bag which'll last a fair few trips
