advice on rod for the beirn

My little lad has started coming fishing with me and loving it but he needs a better rod than just a spinning rod any ideas on a cheap set combo for him reel nd rod any offers from people would be great thanks

How old is he and what size rod is he using at the minute?? probably best off getting him an 11ft estuary rod and fixed spool reel or a 9ft pier rod there is plenty about like shakespeare just check the likes of the for sale section,e-bay and ask in local tackle shops for advice, i'm sure you will get plenty of suggestions from the guys on here

I just got my 8yr old a Ron thomson 10ft beech300 and a fixed spool for about £45. The reels a bit naff But im well chuffed with the rod. solid but smooth to cast and forgiving.
