Have been invited to fish out of Amble on Sunday May 28th with a bunch of folk from other forums (a mixture of Anglersnet and Ardgourangling)
The boat is the Upholder a 35\' Offshore 105 and the skipper is Dave Builth.
I assume we will be rough ground drifting for cod and he may chuck in a wreck or two.
Never fished out of Amble before so any advice on best rigs/baits/tactics would be most welcome.

Thank you :)

hello snatcher lot of rough ground and will definatley need bait this time of year worm and mussel should bag a few usual lures daylights and muppets, wrecks are generally deep so you\'ll need plenty of lead.
upholders a good boat.

Just to pick your brain a bit more Ron would you go for lug or rag. Also is calamari woth a bash?

Will take a few muppets/daylights but will be trying my own home made sandeels first tipped with bait. Tie them with lureflash bodies, white bottom, silver mid section and green crystalflash back.Put gold chainbead eyes onto them. What size hook would you recommend I make them on 4/0 5/0 ????

If you want to try a couple yourself giz your addy by pm and I will tie up a few extra freebies for you.No bother to me :D :D

hello snatcher use the bigger hook so you can get more bait on this time of year in the summer I fish without bait seem to like a clean hook, theres plenty of sand eels up there and the cod are often stuffed with small sand eels due to lots of sandy bottom but I\'ve never had much luck.with either live or lure type eel patterns let me know how you get on with yours will be interested what results you get with them.
with regards to bait lug is the natural species but when drifting over hardground I find rag stands up to the abuse better so use that ,lug is good forthe dabs up there.
good luck
