How long do you leave the bait untill you reel in? This is something i\'ve never figured out. I tend to leave it alone for around 10mins but is this too soon or too long?

thats a goodun m8 i have often wondered myself
depending on the conditions of the sea and what type of ground i am fishing also if i am talking to someone lol anything from 15 ish to 25min
i think its up to you and when your brain says pull it in and lets see what the bait is like :D :D

its still early and i am still half sleeping so if ya think this sounds rubish ignore it lol, lol. ;)

I think it depends on what bait you are using and how many crabs are about. If I am fishing a match for instance I tend to change my baits a lot sooner than when pleasure fishing. I tend to check my first cast pretty quick as it usually gives you an indication for the session.

Cheers, i tend to have a lot of problems with crabs (but i\'ll get some cream for that) I usually use rag, i\'m probably too impatient and want to start catching fish as soon as the bait hits the water. I\'ll start to wait around 20 mins now :)

On average -I work on about 20 mins.
However, it all depends on the conditions and what the bait is you\'re using. The same spot can be completely different the next day - even the next tide.
Sometimes you could put a big cocktail bait out and within 10 mins it\'s either totally washed out or half eaten by crabs - other times, you could put the same sized bait out and leave it for 45 mins - when it\'s reeled back in, it looks as good as it did when 1st cast out.

As Jim mentioned, it\'s a good idea to leave your 1st cast out for only a short time (about 10 mins) this will give you an idea of how your bait is fairing in the present conditions.

Check your first bait after about 10 mins though, as if there are a lot of Crabs about your hooks could be bare for a lot of that time.
Also try Mussel and other soft shell baits and Squid with your worms.

Usually about 20mins. If I\'ve had a few rattles that haven\'t materialised into a knock worth striking and then it goes quiet for about 5-10mins...then I reel in and check me bait.

Same as most of you 15 to 20 minutes .Unless I\'m fishing with Jim and then it\'s normally left for an hour while Jim talks my head off ;)
Just kidding mate :D

or if yur hands are numb and its wissing down, yur cold, wet miserable.... yu only have one worm, andyu only came cosyur lass is bitchin,....maybe 3 hours.
