anyone tried these yet ? was just wondering whether to get one of the akios mags for 100 squiddies or maybe for a few squid more an abu .....for long range fishing .....general winter fishing ?

Was checking out the akios reels at the fishn show they seem a canny bit of kit and look well built, am thinkn of getn one myself. There's apparently been a few showing up on the tournament field, av not seen one myself but wasnt taking much notice, will be keeping my eyes peeled this sunday to see how they perform.

The kids bought me one for Christmas. Its a smashing reel, everybody mistakes it for an ABU. great reports and reviews about it. Was chuffed with it until the gearing went on it last Thursday whilst trying to get a cast out. Expecting a phone call this morning from the shop to let me know what they are going to do about it. I would recommend it for the money though. I have just been unlucky I think..

good to know .....am looking for like a reel for back up my main reel is the525 mag i need a spare like ...looked at cash converters today there was daiwa 7ht non mag for 80 quid but then again theyhad a chinese abu 7k with level wind for 50 . the lassie kept telling me its cheap its cheap .....i wasnt convinced of the price ,drag felt funny ...not when they selling second hand powerstorm surf seeker rods for 59.99 ( could not beleive my eyes) especially when u can get it new from fishing republic for 20 quid.....crackers

You could always get a second hand 7ht and put your own mono mag conversion on it mate, it would work out cheaper and would be a good second reel
