As Saturday was called off due to the weather conditions, I was fortunate enough to make up the boat today.
The weather gods had the sun shining from start to just about finish, turned a little cool towards the end of the day, the sea had a small chop, but this had no impact on the trip.
Both boats left the marina and off we went to our own places of fishing.
The water was very dirty and only slightly cleared when we got about 20 mile off, unfortunately with the clearer water, the fishing didn't improve.
From the start the fishing was non existent, there was all kind of methods used, but nothing was working, very much the story for this season. Dave tried, tried and better tried throughout the day, as did Little Dave on Famous, but nothing was forthcoming, a message in the afternoon from Famous told us they had managed a few fish, nothing big but keepers, we moved out to try a wreck in the cleaner water and I took the fish of the day, a Pollock weighing in at 4lb 12oz, gutted, 2 drops later another fish and another Pollock, around the same size, another 2 codling came aboard on the next few drifts which were gathering speed and we were finding it very difficult at holding bottom.
Dave tried another few spots before time was called and a steady trip back to port began.
Once again the banter helped make up for the poor fishing, it all goes to help improve the whole day in general, so lads until the next time when the sea will be jumping with fish (fingers crossed anyway) tight lines. :)

Talking to a few of the skippers there was nothing on note caught all weekend. A lot of the boats never even bothered going out on Sunday as the fishing on the Saturday was dire to say the least.
Funny start to the season - think it needs another few weeks.

Sounds hard work mate. Hope it changes for Sunday when I'm on Famous !

Hi mate, as you know, both skippers will try their best for everyone on board, just a very bad start to the season, I hope you do well and give a brilliant catch report, good luck :)

Yes mate, Dave on Ali-cat confirmed your post, nothing nowhere at the minute "again"
It's got to improve sometime soon, fingers crossed and everything else :)
