:rolleyes:fished cullercoats harbour over low water this morning, nice roll on but no fish! only 2 small bites hard to believe as my lug bait was top notch with mussel, i was eventually saved from a blanko as i headed for mill dam in the tyne and got 6 small coddies for my trouble. "but there you go".

alreet bud, the answer to your question is simply tackle heavy, you will be litrally be fishing into kelp covered rock so order of the day is simple as possible, with nothing fancy 1 3/0 or 4/0 mustad vikng bronze hook and some kind of rotten bottom set up. its always worth a shot this time of year as doubles often turn up, best baits would be lug, crab, mussell, rag, & razor but put plenty on. all the best mate korky.

Keep saying it, but I just use junk as sinkers when I fish Cullercoats, get any amount of old spark plugs if you ask at a few garages.

I guess i'm lucky, i use a pulley rig with 5oz gripper & have yet to lose 1. I do occasionally get snagged but it pulls straight out. Mind i have lost a few fishing from the rocks on the right at low tide. Caught a 3lb cod 3 weeks ago from the South pier in the harbour on rag only. Fished it again since with a few knocks but only pulling up a coley.
