Not sure I'd be looking at a river mark this week with the amount of liquid that's come out of the sky in the last 24hrs!

When the sea is flat as a witches proverbial you'll find a lot of people either head for deep rocky/kelpy marks or the river...this is coz the sea when flat generally doesn't produce good fishing (although not always the case LOL) so people head "up stream" for flatties/whiting or maybe even the odd Cod that has ventured up the water

Although as 5150 rightly says the amount of rainfall/snow there's been the River may not be that good - caused by reduced salinity or debris coming dow river etc etc etc

Any fish from a shore venue will tend to be localised in rock or kelp - usually out of casting distance, when they do travel inshore to within casting distance it is because they are following a food source that is being pushed inshore by either tide or current. Since there is very little movement of water at the moment then not much food will be getting pushed inshore for the fish to follow.
