Also you know the little harbour kind of thing which the river flows through to the sea is it any good? i havnt been owt in ages and as im just a beginner and had a cra@ winter with only 3fish want to get out in this spring weather any help much appreciated thanx

Hi

You`ll be better fishing the river at the minute (just down from the bridge into the village).

Head down the path along the river, then just follow the right bend along to the point (anywhere between the bend and the point should produce fish - flounder, plaice, eels etc)

Fish as light as possible for good sport, and try peeler or rag and macky for bait.

Amble SAC has a club match there on Friday 19th (18:00 - 21:00), why not have a look along ?

cheers tony. Do you have to be a member of a club to take part? as im not a member of any club yet. If im free and its not peeing down on friday will have a look up. Also do you not need licesense to fish river or is it classed as sea and is it best fished over high water.cherrs again.

No , you don`t have to be a member, but if you want to join you`ll be made most welcome.

Fishing on the Aln is free up to the Bridge. After that you need a permit.

Sport is usually pretty good at any stage of the tide, but low water and high water won`t produce much. It`s fine so long as there`s movement in the water.

Where are you from, by the way ?

Im from a place called Medomsley near consett. But i spend alot of time at my lasses who lives at winlaton tyne and wear. I know there are angling clubs closer but i almost always fish in northumberland or further north as i enjoy fishing more remote locations than a packed pier or busy beach. Plus alnmouth is such a beautiful place and shouldnt be to busy yet.

I never knew mate, ive only been fishing since january so am still learning the ropes. Wher do you tend to fish mate or do you go all over the place. I cant wait for the better weather nd hopefuly more fish.

All over really but mainly between Tynemouth and Blyth. Once the finer weather comes in there will be more travelling though. SW Scotland and Eyemouth will be regular spots if the conditions are right.

Got a mate up your way in north Mag. that I used to fish with a lot but he has been out of it for a while now.

I can remember when i was little lad there was a couple of blokes from north mag used to go out like. Remember one day in the hollidays one of them must have been out in a boat and had bought all the fish home gutted em and took there heads off. Had a great time running round with huge cod heads on a stick can remember hoying up all over when we went back the nxt week what a stink lol. If i remember right one blokes name was kerr this prob ur m8 he was a keen angler mind i was only 5 or 6 at the time

Lol anth.

I would be looking at Ragworm, Crab, (sometimes fresh sometimes frozen) and Mackeral mainly for that type of fishing. Fresh crab nippers and legs will also do the bizz when tipping off. We also used to take fresh Herring with us and that was the bizz too. Never hear of anyone using it now though. Would like to hear comments from the old and the new on that one. A lot of people use flattie spoons and loads of beads, never tried that so can\'t comment.

how did the match go tony much doing?

Plenty of flounder caught.

Winning bag 7 for 5lb 11oz (if I remember rightly).

I ended up with 4 for just over 3lb.

A lot of the fish were taken on macky strip, I got mine on peeler.
