alternative to internet explorer

totally off topic i know but i take it most of you will be using microsofts internet explorer, so was i till i tried another browser called firefox, its a free program you can download from many websites. its very similar to ie in looks but auto stops popups etc, it makes browsing the net a whole lot more enjoyable. give it a go see what you think ! you can even import all your favourites into its bookmark menu, only been using it 2 days and i\'m a convert already.
i\'m sure if a freeware program can stop popups this effectively the might of bill gates empire should have been able to do so !

Windows XP service pack 2 has a pop up stopper so does my Zone Alarm

i\'ve got zone alarm running, it is the best firewall out there and also helps stop popups but as a popup blocker its got its limitations.
as for service pack 2 a couple of people i know have had problems after installing it and ended up having to do a full format and install, may be coincidence but they are both competant computer users and both encountered similar problems so i\'ve avoided the temptation to use it.

I\'ve read alot about SP2 but i\'ve never had a problem with mine other than changing a few settings here and there

Mozilla\'s another one out there, I keep meaning to change as they appear to be more secure than IE, it should be done really, if only to put a flea in Gatesy\'s ear.

As previously posted by micky, it\'s a very debate going on as well, go to the Pike forum bit.

Aye I knew that Micky. Hellish fish on your pic in the Pike forum, how hefty was it?

that pike was 23lb12oz caught it last year, not quite my PB but its the one thats give me the most satisfaction. caught it from a prolific pike water but not a one noted for 20 plussers, a fish of a lifetime from that water.

Cheers Mickey, can see why the pike angling grabs people by the balls.

i sometimes think i haven\'t got all my paddles in the water, living in a bivvy for days on end in the depth of winter on some remote scottish loch, waking up to find inches of snow and wondering how you\'re going to be able to drive home. must be mad, its getting to be an obsession. but one good fish makes the trip worthwhile.

I was having all sorts of problems with I.E......went over to Opera a few months ago........no more problems.......no more pop-ups......much faster response.......wish I\'d dumped I.E. AGES ago.

Hear d some canny reports on Firefox, but never used it.........ANYTHING nust be better than I.E.

Ell, if you wanna go over to Opera, look in here........

and select \"free download\"........like me, you\'ll wish you\'d done it ages ago, m8.

opera is good, but the new version of good old netscape is still a good browser. the new verson has the best java engine going, blocks popups and, critically for all you windoze bods has the ability to turn off ActiveX. Active X is the little bit of magic microsoft invented that lets all the viruses in!

without Active X a lot of the viruses that attach themselves soon as you open a web page are disabled because they rely on active X

Even if you just want to show solidarity to the boys that invented web browsers, netscape\'s worth a whirl. Also has usenet access built in and a pretty good mail client.

personally, I use safari. fastest brower on the planet, no popups and no viruses!
