amble sac summer open shore competition 2010

Robert

We encourage anglers to keep flatties alive in a bucket until the weigh-in. Somebody from the club will then take the fish down to the little shore at Amble and let them go. Please note that our minimum size limit for flounders is 27cm.

Other fish, cod, pollack etc are usually kept for eating by the angler.
I have tried in the past to get wrasse removed from our competitions as they are not eaten by many folk, but the motion was rejected, on the grounds that there are so few ever weighed in.

Two years ago in the Amble Open there were over 100 flatties weighed in.
All but a handfull of these went back alive.
That's what we like to see.
