Amnesia

Areet,
I needed some line to build some more pulley rigs with and I was reccommended "Amnesia", went to my local tackle shop and bought some
25lb Amnesia and when I got it home I realised the line is black, only ever used clear stuff in the past
have I bought the wrong stuff or does it not make a difference?

Said on the packet ideal for leaders traces shooting and running lines (all of which mean nothing to me, still new to the game)

i use amnesia
in
green
red
clear
black

its a great line for traces
no kinking when tying knots

mind you if you are tying pulley rigs
you need at least 60lb b/s
i use 80lb b/s

Aye, I couldn't remeber if I needed to match the main line or shockleaders breaking strain, but when i've thought about it it should really have been the shockleader, I think I use 50lb shock.

So does colour not make any difference? even as the line that I use for my hook?

This Cod was caught on Whitburn beach with bright yellow 60lb line for the trace body and 15lb Black Amnesia for the hook snood

;):)

Cheers for that, very informative, I realise now that in the past I've been doing it wrong using the same 25lb line for both hook line and trace body. :p

Always used Amnesia for my pulley rigs, Sigsy.

Black for the hook length and clear (which is actually white) for the sinker.........always used this colour combination....just as a safety factor, really, I guess......When I've reeled in or just baited up, I know what's at the end of each colour.....a safe lump of metal at the end of the white line and a nasty, sharp pointy thing at the end of the black !

Lol Mark...........Aye - 1 day I'll probably surprise meself and pick up trusty rod (or is that "rusty rod" ??) and sally forth onto yonder beach, rock edge or pier, once more......in pursuit of that elusive fishy................but I won't hold me breath ' til til day dawneth.....lol

Used to use a fantastic fishing line called, hmmmmmm, let me remember, it will come to me.

Oh, yes I remember.......

Nah, forgot.

Someone had to do it.

:)

Amnesia is very good line for hook snoods IMO, bit pricey but. Zero memory hence the Amnesia I suppose, I bet it makes for good flyfishing leaders in certain situations as well.

I know Sless has recommended no less than 60lb - but I've always just used 25lb for both hook and sinker. Works for me and never had a problem.

Its just i will be mainly using pulley rigs over rough ground, and if i was to use 50lb for the hook length, when ever my hook would get snagged i would lose the lot

Well Rod, the strongest Amnesia I've seen advertised is 40lb....and according to this blurb, 40lb is the limit:

"Amnesia is probably the leading memory free line used for hook lengths in the U.K. It is used across the angling disciplines. What did we do before we had amnesia? All spools contain 75yds and range from 15 to 40lb breaking strain in clear, black or red."
