another 12hour sesh

well lads me and carver are off for a 12 hour sesh from 6pm till 6am tomorro we got a fair bit of bait loads of diff types except peeler ill report back if we make it back lol

baits going with us:
1. black lug
2. razor
3. soft back crab
4. mussel
5. rag
6. peeler crab man stuff off ebay lol
7. super eels (big sand eels)

if i dont catch nothing will all this bait people will see me floating like
p.s if this happens DO NOT TRY AND SAVE ME lol

use small hooks to begin with...you may just catch flatties and other small fish but at least you won't have blanked

Unlucky mate but if you keep putting this much time and effort in you will get them big fish Lad caught 5 in half an hour just up the river from you

a lad got a 3 1/2 lb cod about 3 feet away from us he also had a pouting and another cod about 1lb aint got aq clue what we were doing wrong but the fish were having none of our baits

long hours alright mate just gets to you after a while lol im gonna fish hartley some time through the week see if i can get anything this time need some one with expirience to come and tell me what im doing wrong lol

all kinds of traces mate from rotten bottoms, pulleys, one hook flappers, 2 hook flappers, hook sizes were 1/0 3/0 and 4/0 aint got a clue what im doing wrong but wallsendo u should just come out and show me what the problem is lol HELP NEEDED FAST

LOl...don't ask me mate - I know f*** all...I just use big words and pretend I know what I'm talking about

Sounds like you're doing the right things mate - I just wondered if you'd fallen into the trap of using HUGE hooks and HUGE baits (which do work given the right circumstances) when smaller hooks will still catch big fish, as well as other species in between

could be it mate as my baits were about 8 inch cocktails of rag black lug mussel peeler lol

thing is i had my best bite using soft back crab and i know people on here dont rate

what size hook and what rigs would you use for fishing hartley skeer mate

Nothing wrong with 3/0 to 4/0 hooks and deffinitley nothing wrong with a deacent bait in the water,sounds like you done every thing right.
even whiting and stuff like that will take a 3/0 hook no probs,
you had about the same luck as us when we were on the oppisite pier,the night before.
sea has been flat for to long (nice for the small boats,crap for the shore angler unless your on a rock mark,and there prob all lying just off casting distance.
allways better after after a good northerly blow,to bring them in hopfully we get one soon.

its like this if the fish aint around you aint gonna catch doesnt matter what bait or hook size or rig your using,ive seen people hammering cod before with traces that i would of used when i was 10 and new no better about rigs and that

Like the lads say mate nowt wrong with big baits at all. I got a 8lb or woz it 8oz flatty in the open and it took a 4/0 hook right down with about 10 rag and lug on!!! More bait you have on the better the scent in the water i think! Tony is also right tho...small hooks will also catch fish but they don't always land themas 1 of the lads on here will testify to

classic example of the sport we enjoy...there is no right or wrong answer

You can be fishing one way and not catching, whereas the lad next to you is fishing the same way and pulling them in fish after fish...it's sometimes a mystery...but I still say we should have ALL fished High Shore last night LOL

cheers for the replys lads im in deperate need of some help with finding the fish lol im gonna try same sized hooks with smaller baits and if that dont work then big baits with small hooks lol just gonna keep trying diff things till i find the cod im after
