Another lost angler

Just heard on the local news that a 41 year old fisherman from redcar was swept off the south gare last night, he later died in hospital. :(
I fished (well tried) Whitby\'s west pier last night and at low water the sea was breaking over the top platform, bloody scary :o :exclam:
How anyone could attempt to fish the gare in weather like it was yesterday beggars belief.
My heart goes out to his family and friends, let this be a warning to us all.... Do not try to fish anywhere when the sea has got its angry head on, IT JUST AINT WORTH THE RISK :exclam: :exclam: :exclam: :exclam:

Sad news indeed, Tala.
Aboslutley right.......a fish ain\'t worth it.

Credit to Sunderland Coastguard yesterday. I went on Roker pier at just after 12 yesterday, there was a sea running, but not bad enough to shut the pier, the odd one was spilling over at the neck end. About 2pm, the wind got up something terrible and you could see the sea visibly getting worse. The coastguard then drove along and asked everyone to leave as they were closing the gates. I don\'t think there was an argument from anyone.

It would have got even worse when the ebb tide started to push against the sea.

My thoughts are with the anglers family.

When will we ever learn, that our irresponsibility in the search for a few fish quite often needlessly ends in heartbreak for a family left without a father. My condolences to his family.

It\'s really tragic when anyone dies while enjoying their favourie hobby/pastime, I\'ve been wiped out loads of times by huge waves while kayaking & twice I\'ve nearly not made it out so fully understand the damage that a wave can cause a person.
We MUST respect the sea cos it doesn\'t respect us! All it takes is one freak wave on a mark that we think we know well & we\'re gone for good!
My sincere condolences go out to Stewarts family & friends who\'ll be missing him terribly today & will be distraught at the shock, horror & emptyness they\'ll be feeling right now :(
Please take care when you try for that elusive biggun lads, think of those you\'d leave behind if you went missing! :(

An utterly pointless waste of fooking life
RIP Stewart Simpson

will we ever learn,,,, me thinks not :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet:

This is another waste of life in pursuit of something you may or may not want in the end. It\'s very sad. My deepest sympathies to his family.
