Sounds like it may be the turbo mate, hope it's not because if it is you'll need a new one and they aint cheap. Around a k fitted I would of thought. Hopefully it might be something simple, goodluck

It needs to go on a diagnostic machine to find the fault code, dont try guessing it could be one of a hundred things..... It sounds like it has gone into limp mode, that gets you home without putting more stress on the engine...

have you checked the engine oil? i know fords go in to limp mode if the engine oil goes below a certain level! dont know if its the case with peugeots though:confused:

If your turbo goes, what usually happens is your car will accelerate by its self and you have to stall the car to save the engine. the turbo will still spin and blow the engine if you turn it off with the keys.

On the other hand common problem with the 307 is fuel filter or worn vacuum pumps.

If you have a friend whos a mechanic get him to check the little things like that, it could be something as simple as a MAF sensor. Good luck.

Yes, that can happen, the seals go on the compressor and it sucks oil out of the crank case which is fuel and keeps the engine running resulting in a knackered engine

well it may not be the turbo as no smoke and car did not axxelerate by its self just started it and it wont rev over 3000 revs

my bmw estate done that mate i went to put it in 5th but put it in 3rd engine went into limp home mode took it to the dealers on the computer 45 quid sorted

As some of the above say mate get a diagnostic check done that will identify the fault the wife's mini went into limp mode a few weeks back that was the coil pack n some new plugs only done 19k miles

just been on peugeot forum and it sounds like its deffo in limp mode, funny thing is i put 30 quid in tank this morning and fuel warning light came straight on:confused:

It might be nothing mate sometimes you can get a little glitch which puts the light on and puts it into limp mode clear the code and all might be fine but if something's physically broke it won't clear but you will know what's needed just let me know
