Any sparkys

Re - coiled up extension cable. In effect you have created an installation of bunched current carrying circuits therefore should apply a de-rating factor. So uncoil yer flippin extension.:)

MCB's give overload and fault protection, in respect of fault protection this automatically gives protection against electric shock, ie. trips out within specified time to stop potential rise in exposed metalwork being dangerous (>50V)

Phil, it's a relatively easy job but since the introduction of Part P electricians who don't work for themselves like Gordon and myself are tied up in regulations to do notifiable domestic work, if there are any problems, we are in contravention of statutory building regulations and prosecuted. What you really need is a self employed spark who is registered with one of the qualifying bodies who will do it mates rates for you otherwise it may be more hassle and money than it is worth. Hope you get sorted mate and sorry for all the electrical waffle on your post.

Circuit breakers do protect you from electric shock, what would be the point of them otherwise?
Hello Mark, I'm talking here about circuit breakers that trip at a set current rating, it's more than possible for a circuit breaker not to trip at its set rating and still deliver a fatal electric shock.
A residual current device, residual current circuit breaker RCCB, will protect against electric shock and as you will know they are typically rated at their fault current, for example 30 milliamperes.
There are units that now combine both devices but I was providing some advice to help people out.

I wasn't arguing with you mate. RCDs fail too, very often, that is why they are only additional protection on top of a sound ADS system. Nothing wrong with giving safe advice. Anyway I'm out of this talking shop, it's supposed to be fishing talk for me on here.:D

That's fine Mark, please don't think I was taking exception to your post......it's testimony to NESA that Pighunter has had so much advice. I would have have offered to help but like yourself I don't have part P, (I work in industry and not Domestic). I also have my sixteenth edition qualification but not the seventeenth edition.
We sometimes take things for granted but I remember my brother once plugged a heater into a coiled up extension and nearly barbecued himself.....he is a very educated bloke too.
Take care and tight lines, Ian.

Thanks lads I have been blown away with the help, I would get it wired but the main problem is the shed is sitting on a concrete area and don't want the hassle of smashing that up to lay the cable.

phil can you not bluetooth it or wifi it lol:red:

Couldn't tell the difference between a dingle and dongle either lol. Nightmare mate, got a brick out house that has a fridge freezer in but our lass was a knob and decided to make it a wash house lol I mean does she not relise priority? Can she not wash them in The sink?

Just a thought but you could take your cable along a catenary wire, if it's only a short run then it won't be too unsightly.

Ian

Just an overhead wire with the cable attached mate.

Yea seen a few of them on other sheds that's what I was looking at. But didn't know what they were called, think I am going to go down the extension route for this winter for one double socket to run a fridge seems silly to start digging holes. Will measure it up and get the right sized extension lead as only got 25metre cassette reel types. Don't want to burn my shed down lol. Don't worry rods and reels are in the loft,(couldn't get a big enough shed to hold them all)
