Anyone got recomendations of a 16ft continental style rod

i'm after one for a bit flatty bashing and scratching in the summer, seem easy and pleasant to fish with also easy to cast a long 3 hook trace.

Been looking at the gurvelle i think they are, and also some dawia modles, but budget is fairly low, around 100quid as its only to play with really.

wondering what feedback people have, cheers.

Try looking around mate, theres many names on the market that have canny long beach rods for what you are after.

Try asking around some tackle shops. Im sure Terry in Reelsport could sort you out with something or other...:yltype:

already had a spy round quickly or i wouldnt have an idea of what i want silly boy! asked for a quote for one of the daiwa something or other with one of the TF gear V8 fixed spools from fishtec, see what they say, you been out much andy?

not sure terry carrys anything like them in stock he wasnt in earlier today when i popped in either, just gona keep eyes and ears open, miles of time befor summer flatty bashing starts anyhoo, although might start early the way the fishing is

I've got a Daiwa Emcast 15'4". Fish it with fixed spool and braid. Can get a bait out some distance with just an overhead thump. Only used it a few times for match fishing. Decent bite detection and seems OK for £54.

Takes some getting used to a completely different style of rod. Bought that one after looking around because I didn't want to pay a great deal for rod that will only get a bit limited use.

yeah, i was looking at the longbeam and grandwave from daiwa. Seem to have a little more about them and good value.... i mean 16ft of rod, a fair length for hundred and something quid. Yeah i imagine the loading being alot slower obv cos its softer and longer, cheers for the help pete

Peter. The rod is 15ft 4in. And your overhead thump puts the bait out 15ft 5in. Canny mate

Yeah you need a longer drop and slow the cast down and it's fine

i.d in byker have a gravelle 15 foot rod for 100 quid, and tons of others, pop in there fella

i had an 18 foot German rod a few years ago cant remember the name but it really put me off when i could see the tip out of the corner of my eye during a cast, it felt like i was finished the cast before the tip started to come round talk about a "C" curve lol
filled it with builders foam in the end to stiffen it up a bit
+ no use in any thing but still air as it bounced around like a puppy otherwise

I drunkenly bought an 18' rod a year ago. Gave it a go and was very heavy to use and really got caught in the wind. I think I will just stick with my century raptor and a slosh 30.

i have the century ccm carbon metal 16.4ft i think i did not like the feel of it at 1st but have a few casts to get used to the extra lengh and u soon get used to it now i love it and can see a big change in the distance in can cast with the longer rod

Yep. Internet shopping at midnight, new years eve, aint a good idea peeagee mate. I'm sure some sucker will take it off you one day though. How do you find the TTR?

not a bad rod at all. Hauled a few good fish out with it. Best one was a 5lb cod off South Shields pier. Was toying with the idea of getting a WR300 but decided against it. I have heard too many bad stories about them. Most people I have spoken to say that they are a rod for posers. But I just go for what works for me. Everyone's different.
