Gonna have a run up to wing hongs in newcastle but don't wanna get there to find it's shut! anyone know what time there open till?

Not sure mate, think it might be something like 6pm, but it could be later, best bet is to call them and check - 0191 2331800

Dont know the times of it mate but about two doors down there is a great chinese where its eat as much as you like for about £5-£6 its called number ones and is great;)

Thanks very much for the phone number, the only number I could find was out of service!

Opening times are 10am till 7pm.:D

If my memory serves me well i was there about a month ago, the calamari squid was about £1.40 a box and the 1/2 kilo of razor clam which your probably more interested in was £5 a pack, note that the razor is quite a bit smaller than what the tackle shops sell but still cracking value ;)

jokes aside try the proper chinese trade counter, its just behind st james bolivard, not sure on the name but its very busy with the shop owners from arond these parts, public are welcome so no refusals, just google magnet kitchen centre at newcastle or newcastle west univerity college its next door to both, there used to be a car garage on the corner but its now closed, only other way i can describe directions is bottom of westgate road at traffic lights turn right then at next lights turn right, follow road to 1st roundabout then turn left, its about 100yrds on the right.the casino is at the bottom on the left, dont worry if you miss it as the road leads you back to the lights.good luck,a see all the chinese takeaway owners at this place so it must be better than them on stowel street and towards pitt street.give it a go.and post reply so all can see.

Adam,
I had the same problem trying to phone one of the Chinese supermarkets on Stowell street. Couldn't find a number anywhere. Rang directory of enquiries, only to be told there were that many owners called 'Wing' and 'Wong' they had been taken out of the phone book as people were too likely to "wing the wong number" .............................................................hoestly!
