Apollo MK1 replacement ideas

Hello my first post .
Last spring i had my Apollo MK1 stolen, i have managed but over the rocks i miss the old Apollo.
It felt just right to me, but there are a great many rods out there all makes and prices . And i have not handled that many, i want one close to the Old apollo if you can think of anything.
Any ideas on another replacement rod, or do i just wait for a S/H MK1 to turn up.

Appollo mk3 ! Its a slimmer, lighter version of the original but slightly more powerful. Excellent bite detection, decent casting rod and locks up to bring gear back and fish through the kelp. There are some decent deals on them as well. Dont buy a mk 2 however cheap they are, they just dont compare, they are quite dead and lifeless!

Sonik 4s are almost identical to the appollo except being slightly thicker on the butt and a tad stiffer on the extreme tip, in my eyes to the detriment of bite detection.

You could also try a century, maybe a crest, ttr or eliminator, all good rods but lacking in that "feel" you get from the appollo. send me a pm if you want any more info.

For heavy ground fishing, I've had a Century long eeze sport, Ron Thompson Axellerator and a Reelsport response.

The Reelsport response being the best by far.

welcome to nesa,the Ron Thompson Axellerator i have 2 of the 408 models i was at st marys lighthouse with them earlier in the week they have failed to let me down yet used them in all sorts of ground excelllent rod for the price

Got to agree on the Apollo Mk3....it's excellent and i don't know many people with them that don't like them. The Platinum Gsi is also a great rod!! I like the look of the Century Eliminator but just can't bring myself to pay £400+ for it.

ive always used greys rods ,but to agree £400+ is alot when you cant even try them first to see if it suits you first?

Just got myself a cmc,compared to mk1 i would say the cmc is more powerfull with a throughish action rather than tippy,it casts well and is slim and light.Its all down to personal choice and YOUR type of fishing,happy hunting.P.s from my experience great bunch of lads on here and if your after a certain rod ask who has one and usually some one will let you have a chuck with theres,gives you an idea if its for you.

Well thanks for advice , i did a search on this site and noticed a few liked the Century rods and the the WR 300 got a good few posts praising it. I had noticed one for sale second hand quite local and got it.
It is a stifish thing right enough,but i cant wait to give it a try. .

Won't get rid of my MK1 Apollo but agree with Chukka, the SK4 is great. Handles the rough but far lighter and more versatile as it picks up the bites if used where smaller stuff about.

I used to use greys rods- then i got my first century and ive never looked back. I doubt you will be dissapointed.
