Up in the area with work again, so decided to give my fav mark a visit between Arbroath and Montrose. Called into Anglers Choice in Dundee and loaded up with Runnydown,Mussel,Squid and Maki.
Arrived at the location around 1130 and found water choppy, 60mph winds and only hour left to high tide, not the best conditions.
Climbed down the cliff to a ledge and chucked out a cocktail which immediately interested something but not a codling.
Good start, but five hours later, not a fish to show.
This same mark had given me 15 codling in Nov, so I was gutted.
Decided to go down onto the rocks and fish the edges. Loaded a 8/0 pennel with around six big mussel and chucked it out, began to txt the lads at home about blanking, when suddenly, the rod showed signs of a codling bite, even in the strong wind, minutes later, 3lbr landed. Champion, I'd found The fish, alas, it was the only one. Still, I saw three seals, one porpoise, and an otter swimming on it's back eating a flattie. You don't get that at Seaham Harbour. Codling returned for me to catch it next week on another session.
