A half decent day at last 2x 2.5lb codling and five very nice whiting, after all the blanks,it makes a change ,i got my 2.5lb codling on seaham pier [no 3] Mick caught his on a roving mission from horden beach to the blast [all his fish caught at same spot.], as you can well imagine he will not publisize the place as it will be over run with people, and we are fishing that spot tomorrow, got my codling at 11.30 in the morning [low water] then nothing all day until i left at 6.15pm,no one had my peg in the comp and so i stayed . Mick was still having bites when he had to pack up , he was gutted, but 9 hours for me and only one fish [first cast] was enough--Karl

You have to be a member, but if you have a fishing partener you can share a key, but to fish the piers you have to be a club member.Just phoned Mick and we are going to fish the lucky spot today insted of tommorow, will let you know how we get on when we get back tonight.--Karl:)

TOTALLY WRONG
Keys are not there to be shared with anyone and you should not be suggesting that they should. It's not fair on other members of the club and it's certainly not in any of the Club Rules to do so.
We had to fight long and hard to regain access to this Pier and I for one will not see our fishing rights abused.

Lovely bag, keep it up,pleased to see someone are getting decent catches.

Nice bag of fish there, i was a member of the seaham club but never renewed this year, mainly due to the lack of fish there last season and having a family to spend time with. I see where your coming from westwind but im sure i was told that you could key share with one other nominated person a few years ago but that it had been stopped because peole were abusing it. Maybe some people still do this and this could be where the confusion has arisen?

Erm, when I joined with my marra we were both asked if we wanted to share a key and save on the cost, not by a member but the guys processing our memberships. you have to have the harbour insurance and membership but keys can be shared (the number key you have is listed on your membership card) if more than 1 member share a key they have the same key number written on their membership card.

EDIT - btw this was 2009, I've only just joined SSAC this year.

Thanks for that paul ,as that is what i was told when i joined.I have my own key, as it is better for me, and for the few quid extra i see no point in not getting one, as for westwind , don't bitch on to me about the key situation , i only passed on the information i was given by the club ,or is it your personal club, if it is then i apologize immidietly, if not bring it up at the clubs next meeting, then, all the members who joined that have been told the information i was told, should be told about the new rules, i feel that most people will opt for there own key , i did .

Karl perhaps I read your posting the wrong way if so my turn to apologise. I've never before heard that rule about two members key sharing.
As for bitching I'm afraid you'll need better bait than that if you're expecting a bite from me.

When ian my mate joined they had ran out of keys so we were asked to share mine. i see no problem as long as you are paid up member. In fact it makes sense why pay an extra fiver when you do not have to.
Our visits to seaham will probs not be frequent with us living up at Consett. so its not really a problem.
Mick.

Well from reading the posts backing up Karls comments it seems I've made a bit of an @rse of myself.
I was totally unaware of the key sharing option and have sent an apology to Karl.
Matter is closed as far as I am concerned.

Its all forgotten about from this end as well ,good luck with your sea fishing i hold no grudges at all . Fishing is what i joined the forum for and that's good enough for me ,but please feel free to reply to my posts , you might be able to tell me when the pier is fishing, and vice versa, but i won't swap spit in the shower--Karl:):):)
