Well guys popped into AMH Angling at Annfield Plain today and bought a new carrying assembly for my shakespear box. Its on an aluminium frame with rucksack straps, with the backrest. £40. I,ve put it on the box and it looks o.k.
Before this i had a strap but i have yet to see anyone else using a strap.
My mate reckons he could not carry his box without the conversion carrying kit.
I was tempted to buy a trolley thing with wheels off e-bay but i would feel a bit of a divvy.

quite a number of lads use the strap mate...Phil_itofish uses pipe lagging on his to make it more comfortable....the breakaway conversion is good but not essential in my opinion. I think it's been said before by someone else that a box is good for the easy spots but for fishing on the move a rucksack is better ;):D

Alreet Mick, got one of them boxes but find even with the harness and backrest, it digs into my back. Couldnt walk to the beackons with it on me back...Now use an 80ltr rucksack..Bring it to the comps and will show you mine..:p

i recentley bought the backrest and its the best thing ive ever bought. most of the time i go fishing i ride my bike there and with the backrest it feels like the box isnt even there

For many years I used to use the pipelagging foam on my straps, but must agree with Tony, I was just thinking the other day how the breakaway backrest revolutionised the carrying of the box, it just contours to the shape of you perfectly, I too feel as though it's not even there, but admitedly the more rocky and slippy terrain can affect your balance so I weigh up at which venues I'm going to switch to my rucksack.

I've had a backrest on mine for while now,it does what it says on the tin, just a follow on from Tommy ........they do have there problems and can knock you off balance and fall flat on your a#se,funny as it sounds but maybe not if you are dodging a wave or backtracking from the tide, best advice is to keep it light if you are fishing from rocks, just take the bare minimum with you and leave your spare gear in the car

I won a massive rucksack in a competition down weymouth and i did,nt like it. I don,t fish from the rocks so sold it on tea bay.
Fancied a proper carrying frame for ages so i suppose time will tell if its any good. As to sitting on it ? i,d better not lean to far back.

Mick.

after years of wet backpacks or a box carried on my shoulder i went for the breakway one, not only find it easier to cart my junk but my backs less stiff when sitting on the box, should have done it years ago
