Well i am borred looking at that rain and the NE wind.

Quick run down of the season so far...just to cheer others up.

Later start than wanted due to waiting for boat spares to come

Back in water but hit with bad weather first weekend

Next weekend made it out both days but best i did was 7 fish

Following weekend NE winds no chance at sea

Future forecast looking strong NE winds so one more weekend missed

Phone call today from one of lads that goes week in week out with me, due to Divorce and needing to look afer kids he cant fish Sundays all season....that leaves me a man down every Sunday this season as not mnay can do or want to do week in week out.

Last bit of good news my rod wont fit in the rod tube to take to Norway with me so a new one is rquired :(

That lot should cheer people up feeling down about being land locked :)

Never mind Rich, next week will be different to this .... it's gonna be colder :( ......

Looks like the first proper fishing trip of the season is going to be in two weeks time .... almost mackerel time, so I'm sure we'll be lobbing a few small daylights over the side just in case.
Hopefully by then the water may have cleared a bit and shads will be on the menu.
Looks like it'll be busy days that weekend since we'll not have had any views yet on where the fish are this season, still, there's quite a few wrecks to choose from ..... hopefully have a good un for our "special guest" of the day :) :) :)

hi rich iv got a proper travel rod cube whats about 4foot6 long but when extended its about 6foot and i would say around 3in diameter your more than welcome to borrow it mate

Thanks for the offer but its the airline they would not take anything over 2m so restricted to the rods i can take..as most of mine are over that when broken down i guess its an excuse for a new rod

Norman...say it out loud as i did...MAY before wetting a proper line ...it just dont sound right to me :( spoilt past two years me thinks

aye rich,WELL spoilt the last two years, but as always nowts forever:)

saving

on a positive note im probably saving £50 a trip on fuel by not getting out and its about £20 a week mooring fees so by my reckoning im £30 a week up. Im not loosing lead or lures, The fish stocks are not being plundered by the 1000s of boats that cant get out, so when I do get out there should be more fish about to catch in a shorter time period which should make for some great days fishing, I hope, does that make sense or have i gone mad with boredom and trying to make a positive out of poor weather

Cheers Rich, now i'm officially depressed:(. Hope it doesn't continue for much longer, what a contrast to last April with not a drop of rain, and southern temperatures of 28degs.

Got to admire your enthusiasm Norman, the mackerel will take one look at the weather up here, turn tail, and head back south:D:D

Hi.
I have taken a rod tube over there twice, that measures more than 2m! Dont think the check in staff will pull out a tape measure and refuse it for the sake of a few cm. The tubes go to a seperate area to be boarded onto the plane.

A few people said that but i rather not take the risk, if they do check it then you can add a further £20 each way or maybe risk not taken it.. I be stressed as it is with 16hrs of travel ahead so keeping it simple ha.

Arthur i am here to please :) mind your right i think the mackerel have frozen to death on the way to the NE coast :)

The bad weather is giving me that extra bit time to sort & finish me boat, then once fine weather comes i need to find somewhere to launch ????????

Never mind Richy m8 as the weather has to change in the next couple of days we have had the run of April showers but it has to ease up by Monday or Tuesday so that might cheer you up some and will a Shamano Japanese boat rod be ok.to take on the plane as they break down a little.Getting back to the weather as nobody can get out there and just fish the rivers as its that bad and we are starting to be like couch potato/s and its boring sitting watching out the window wishing it would just stop persisting down you know what i mean:D:D:D and you know i cannot wait to get out on your boat too so get down on your knees and start praying eh ha-ha so keep your pecker up and keep smiling.see you later m8:cool::cool::cool:

I Do My Best RICHY. To Get Out With You As Much As I Can. Take Next Month (May) 3 Full Weekends Penciled In. June 2 Weekends. And If The Season Dose Just So Happen To Kick Off I've Got Leave Waiting To Be Booked For Those Dead Flat Calm Sea, Clear Blue Sky Days.

Keep smiling Richy, it will all be better in time for the bank holiday next weekend. If it’s not, I’m going to start a decorating thread instead of a catch report. Looking out the window at the wind moving the heavy rain horizontally and temperatures in the low single figures it’s hard to believe we had shorts and t-shirt weather this time last month. I’ve not been out since then

On the positive side, your boat is fixed and ready, the cod should have moved in by now and the macks are on their way. The money you’ve saved on diesel will easily cover the cost of a new rod or two.

I bought a rod last summer but the butt was too long for my liking so I shortened it with a hacksaw. Job done, now I have a neat little 6ft 6 solid carbon rod that would fit into a rod tube. It’s a Maxximus solid carbon lightweight that you’re welcome to borrow if you cannot find one you like and don’t want to chop up one of yours.
