Bagging a bargain to bag some fish

This time of year the Mr's starts asking what I would like from Santa so she can save :) ....... that's save NOT save hard  LOL

Those of you who have seen my other threads know I am looking for a new rod and reels. If anyone knows a good bargain then please let me know. I am after a 12'+ rod, a decent fixed line spool and a half decent multiplier, the multiplier needs to be the kind that lays the line itself with no thumb action required. Mum can get me the tripod and the kids the lines i require lol

I'm open to buying second hand equipment if anyone is selling some, that way I might get the chance to upgrade my games consol instead of my fishing tackle when santa puts in an apperance.

cheeers muchly as always;)

You have to give it a bit of thought and ask yourself if you are going to be fishing rock marks more than beach marks. If it's going to be rocks as it sounds it is you should put your money to wards a decent multiplier rather than getting a fixed spool and multiplier.

Fixed spool are no good when trying to pull your gear through the kelp or away from a snag in the rocks. A new slosh is only £70 and very easy to learn to use it. You don't have to have a great cast on rock marks as the fish can be close in.

Slosh don't lay the line themselves but i learnt to do it in a couple of sessions.

As for the rod you can't go wrong with the Axellerator from the rocks or pier. It would prob be ok on the beach as well and is great value at just over £100 new.

I've actually read somewhere (think it was Sea Angler) that one thing in a fixed spools favour (for rock/rough ground fishing) is the rapid retrieve....not to contradict anyone ;):D

Might retrieve quick but i've bust mine trying to pull gear free. All i would use was fixed spool but now converted to multiplier. Might even take the brakes off one of my reels for 2moro.
