cart confusion

cart confusion

nothing to be confused about Darren m8,cart is not a by product ,its the uncooked meat from the inside of the crab the perfectly edible part when cooked the only unusable part of the crab is obviously shell and its gills,as for how cooked is cooked well not sure anyone can answer that ...

lambton, not disagreeing with you, because I openly admit i don't know the answer, but what is the cart they are selling in the tackle shops ?
The reason I ask is i bought some last year, and froze it in tubegrip, ready for use ! Only thing is due to work commitments never got to use it ! Am I still O.K. to do so or am I going to get in bother ?

I hope I'm wrong but I've got visions of this lot turning up and going through your gear to see what you've got or what you're using for bait etc, you know what it's like these days with all this big brother sh*te they'll be looking for any excuse to wring money out of you, I'm surprised they haven't started charging us for rod licences etc I just hope we are not next on that list ;)

I have spoken to the IFCA officers in Northumberland, they would not be able to prove what is in the sausage if you used a Cart from a commercial source or made your own they would not go to the expense of having it analysed. They would prosecute if you had uncooked Brown crabs or could prove the contents of your bait contained uncooked Brown crab, the bye law was really made for commercial fishermen to protect stocks. A brief quote from a commercial bait company selling it.

"This is our latest product added to our ever increasing range. They are a new and very productive bait which have produced some fantastic bags of Cod recently. The bait is made using 'edible crab' cart meat. The crabs are killed and the insides are taken out and then put into a cologen sausage skin which is identical to peeler crab skin"

It is not illegal to sell it but it is to use it as bait in Northumberland and the North Eastern IFCA area.

The Bailiff lads seem canny enough; I’ve met them a couple of times when I’ve been out cleeking. If the help to control the number of undersized fish kept or illegal fishing then they get my support.
