Bait enhancers

Hello lads does anybody use bait enhancers on this site? If so which ones and how do you rate then against fresh bait?A mate of mine was using fresh rag, lug, squid and razor and failing to get a bite after 4 hours, when he switched over to using frozen runny down soaked in aniseed oil he had two casts and two codling with in 15 minutes. I thought he was keeping sweets to himself till i asked him for one, it smelled fantastic.:confused:

Lots of my mates have tried it and they all say fresh works better in the northeast :D
tried it myself and only discovered i was the only one not catching
stick with the fresh mate ;)

tried quite alot of this additive stuff in the seventies never had any joy with it,they use this powerbait on fresh water dont think its anygood for the sea, most of the lads will tell you this stuff is useless.dont waste ya money

expensive to buy most stink to high heaven and washes off as soon as it goes in water may be some use if bait was marinated in it ie squid mackerel etc spent a fortune on this stuff late seventies its a no no for me

do you ever see any of the regions top anglers using bait enhancers, no, they use very fresh bait. Only one I know has already been mention, using aniseed on fish bait to catch whiting.

heard in the past of people using wd40 to enhance oil trail when boat fishing could work ok as i have been told its made using fish oil. Not something i have tried though.

blend up frozen blacks till it's the consistency of runny mud, pour over a packet of morrisons frozen prawns, mix them together and leave in a cool place for about 3 days till the prawns are totally marinated with the runny down, absolute fantastic bait , but definitely not an enhancer just natural, but don't tell your lass you are using her blender to mush up worms. [i wait till she goes to the shops]
