Bait for the glass centre

I'm thinking of trying the glass centre next weekend, fishing low tide up.

What bait am I best taking and what would be about this time of year?

Cheers ,
James

Flattys m8 and maybe a few stray tings and codling . Bait I would use is lug or sticky blacks tipped with squid or bluey ;-) rag never works for me this time of year .;-) hope this helps m8

Blowlug rag tipped with mackerel should get whitings or the odd stray codling. Or if you want to target the flats then try frozen blacks tiled with mackerel. If your fishing the flood should be a few fish about

Cheers lads.

Are sticky blacks the frozen ones that look like sticks of liquorice?

Are the codling sized? All I ever seem to catch is little tommies!

Stickys are old blacks m8 just like liquorice ;-) full of flavour I presume. I think our closest comparison is sun dried tomatoes lol :-D:-D;-)

I was actually at glass centre last summer using rag n mackerel on 1/0 hooks with not much caught few lads further down using only bluey n size 1 hooks getting coley n flatties nearly every chuck

Yep. When scratching for Flounder / Coalies / Whiting / I've had more fish on bluey than any other bait in the last 12 months or so, often catching on the bluey when worm baits were being ignored

Got to agree, bluey is deadly espesh when fished in sml pieces on little hooks, ideal for scratching when things r slow.imo works gr8 when used with sticky blks(fresh blk lug that's a few days old n gone"sticky").Also gr8 fished on it's own or with squid for rays, defo one of the best baits for rays(off the sand anyway.)

I was at Panns Bank last night opposite the Glass Centre. Very poor. Couple of decent Flounders & a small Tommy. My m8 was fishing down the side with a light Rod & had quite a few small Tommies & Coalies mainly on manky bait. Mackie wasnt touched. Worm seemed to be all they were interested in. Be better on a decent tide though.
